Collins blamed Governor Jim Gibbons and his anti-tax pledge!!!
"I will oppose and vote against any and all efforts to increase taxes." is the pledge Gibbons signed.
Why can't Collins see there are other ways to fund financial shortages without increasing taxes?
In the article "How the Legislature Failed" dated 6/13/7 in the Nevada Today, Collins made the following statement.

"Our legislators cut the best deal we could under this stupid pledge of the governor's. They had to cut the best deal they could with this yahoo from Sparks."

The pledge is not stupid and I signed this pledge in 2006 when I ran against Assemblywomen Kirkpatrick. Calling the Governor a "Yahoo from Sparks", is just another childlike outburst from Commissioner Collins. The idea of the anti-tax pledge is to try to push the Nevada and local governments to use the billions of tax dollars they already receive in a more efficient manner.

When I worked as a workers compensation auditor for the Nevada Industrial Commission, the productivity goal given to me was to complete two audits a day. On an average day, I could complete 4 audits a day. I asked my supervisor that if instead of hiring another auditor, could I complete the other 2 audits a day and get a 35% increase in pay. This would save more than 65% in costs to complete the additional audits. My supervisor said NO!! This is an example of low productivity maintained by a supervisor for many years. If there were financial reasons for employees to complete more activities in their day many would work harder to earn more.
