Collins failed on his 2004 Campaign Promise for "Better Traffic"
Las Vegas is rated as the 10th most congested urban area in the Nation!  Tied with New York City
Las Vegas Traffic recieves a "D" for Congestion and a "F" for Safety

Who is Commissioner Collins going to blame his failed 2004 Campaign Promise for "Better Traffic" on? Is it the Nevada Department of Transportation, Nevada Legislature, Republicans, United States Congress or the Nevada Governor? Could Collins blame his traffic failure on Nevada's residents for not paying enough gas taxes?

In 2004 Collins promised that he has a stake in our future and a desire to have better traffic. Our traffic is worse now than when Collins became commissioner. A national transportation research group on  March 15, 2007 gave the Las Vegas Valley a "D" for traffic congestion and a "F" for traffic safety and transportation funding. In 2005 the same group gave a grad of "D+" for traffic Congestion and a "D" for traffic safety. At the same rate of current traffic failure, Las Vegas traffic will be worse than Los Angeles in 2030 according to trip.

Did Commissioner Collins move to Logandale to escape the Las Vegas traffic that he has failed on making better?

On Thursday October 11, 2007, I went to the Clark County Building. I tried to have a conversation with Collins in his office and found that he was not there today. None of the other Commissioner were there either. How can our Clark County Commissioner expect to solve our many problems when none of them are even in their office?

Las Vegas Sun on May 30, 2007 wrote an article "Two Builders own our roads".Las Vegas Paving and Frehner Construction do the majority of road construction for us. Many times there are only two bidders. Does this seem very competitive? One of the problems is that road projects are only created as large jobs instead of several smaller jobs. This way small companies can not compete because they can not get the large bond needed to get the contract.Another problem is the slow burdensome process of working with our government to bid on the contract, aquire the contract and get inspections on the job. Is Collins asking for change?

Another problem is "Prevailing Wage". By law Prevailing wage has to be paid on Government Contracts. This increases the cost of road construction. Also prevailing wage is listed higher than it should be because Nevada does not get enough information about what smaller companies pay for the same service. Many times employees are paid by small business a decent wage for their normal work and 2 or 3 times higher on a government job.  Is Collins asking for change?
